Speakers Bureau
Purpose: To provide information to community and civic organizations about the issue of sexual assault and prevention education to male and female groups on behalf of Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM).
Major Responsibilities:
- Regard all information about services provided to individuals at STSM as completely confidential
- Facilitate STSM prevention curriculum to youth in local schools, community groups, churches, etc., as scheduled by STSM
- Attend agency fairs and volunteer fairs to answer questions related to sexual assault and STSM
- Represent STSM and the various services provided by the agency in a comprehensive and professional manner
- Keep accurate records and documentation of community events
Qualifications:
- Tolerant and non-judgmental of others’ lifestyles and values
- At least 18 years old
- Reliable, dependable, and available during required times
- Confident communicator and presenter
- Must have reliable transportation
- Self-confident about handling stressful situations
- Able to attend and complete Speaker’s Bureau training
Commitment:
- Support the philosophies of Sexual STSM and represent our agency and our cause with integrity
- Regard all information about survivors as completely confidential
- Successfully complete Speaker’s Bureau training
- Attend volunteer in-service training
- Be responsible for scheduling shifts
- Remain with STSM as a volunteer for at least one year
