STSM offers 24-hour crisis intervention through hotline and hospital response, crisis counseling, individual short-term counseling, group counseling, personal advocacy, and legal advocacy to survivors of sexual assault and abuse and education about sexual trauma issues to the Midlands.
To alleviate acute distress of sexual violence and abuse, STSM operates a 24/7 Crisis Hotline. Trained Volunteer Advocates provide personal responses to callers presenting in crisis related to sexual violence and abuse.
To assist the survivor to regain personal power and control when he or she receives medical care, and to ensure the responsiveness of individual service providers, STSM provides in person representation to all ages. Trained Volunteer Advocates assist survivors of sexual violence and abuse on a 24/7 basis to ensure their interests are represented and their rights are explained and upheld. During this time the survivor may need help developing a safety plan or shelter assistance. Information on South Carolina Victims Assistance is provided, and follow up services with STSM are offered during this time as well.
